| COMBATING
DEGREE FRAUD
A one day face2face conference event – London,
England. January 2007 The number of fraudsters, forgers and cheats around the world is booming in an increasingly lucrative global higher education market. Unprincipled academics, university administrators and students are implicated in scams that include fake visas and entry qualifications. Dubious admissions practices, bogus institutions, plagiarism, dishonest grading and counterfeit qualifications. The phenomenon has mushroomed as higher education has become more international and commercial. The problem is truly global - and yet, fraud in higher education is poorly understood. face2face are therefore staging a one day conference event to discuss these matters at length. Its contents will be of vital importance to educators, higher education establishments, employers, and both local and national governments. We are currently putting together a formidable list of international plenary speakers and will look at three distinct stages in the educational supply chain: STAGE 1: This includes bogus visas, false entry qualifications, dubious admissions policies and fabricated/substandard institutional accreditation. PROCESS STAGE: This includes bogus institutions, plagiarism and dishonest grading. OUTPUT STAGE: This includes fraudulent qualification. The event will be held in late January, 2007 in London, England. The fees for this event will be as follows: REDUCED RATE: (Universities, Colleges, Public Sector Organisations, Voluntary Organisations, Trade Unions) £250.00 + VAT (£293.75) FULL RATE: ( Central Government departments and Agencies, Commercial Sector, Non Departmental Public Bodies) £350.00 + VAT (£411.25)
